I lost the top part of my index finger at work, had 2 surgeries and will be starting therapy soon. The Ins Co called and told me I was going to be getting money for the actual loss of my finger in addition to the wage loss benefit checks I have been receiving but she would not give me an ammount saying she was waiting for my last surgical report. I looked in to it a little after we spoke but could not get a relative answer. I was told to seek a lawyer but I have no reason to at this point, they are doing everything as they should I have had no problems. I was told by someone in one of the forums that it is considered loss of half my finger even though it was only to the first knuckle and the compensation should be equal to 31 weeks at the 2/3 rate i am recieving now, 25+6wks healing. If you could shed some light on this for me I would be grateful.
Loss of one half of your first (index) finger is 25 weeks plus a six week healing period paid at your comp rate which is 66 2/3 of your average weekly wage. If the loss of the finger was an injury separate and apart from another disabling injury then you are entitled to receive specific loss benefits without deduction for what disability benefits have already been paid.
