mY HUSBAND DIED IN A HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT .I WENT TO SOCIAL SECURITY AND FILED HIS DEATH WE WERE COMMON LAW MARRIED SINCE 1990.CAN I RECIVE HIS BENIFITS .THE SOCIAL SECUIRTY OFFICE KEEPS TELLING ME I NEED TAX FORMS SHOWING WE WERE MARRIED I DO NOT SEE HE CLAIMED ME AS HIS SPOUSE.WHAT CAN I OFFER THEM IN PLACE OF THIS,HIS MOTHER AND MY CHILDREN WHO ARE HIS WILL ATEST TO THIS AND THERE FRIENDS AS WELL.

A widow can get disability benefits after age 50 and retirement benefits after 62.  Children can get benefits until they are 18, or longer if they are disabled.
