QUESTION

Water Affadavit

Asked on Sep 26th, 2024 on Real Estate - Michigan
More details to this question:
I had a tenant sign a lease agreement where a water affidavit was provided, it sounds like the tenant had the water bill in the sons name before I purchased the home, when I took ownership of the property the lease agreement and water affidavit was provided to the Charter Township Office, however now that the tenants have been evicted they are stating that they have nothing on file when I am for certain documentation was provided. The water balance is going to be placed as a lien on the property if not paid. Is there anything I can do ?

if there was an affidavit the seller was supposed to provide it to you. you should go back through all the papers related to the sale,  you can ask the seller or their realtor or the title company (if there was one) for a copy of it. good luck
