Can my roommate break the lease early?

More details to this question:
My roommate decided to spring on me today that she was moving out 5 months before the lease ends. She explained that either I had to pay the full amount or I have to move out too. Is she allowed to do that? Or does she legally have to provide her half of the rent until the lease is up?
