What would be the consequences or out come of this case?

More details to this question:
On March 2nd I was involved in an accident with my vehicle striking a child running across the highway. The police report was done and found I was not at fault. But my insurance had elapsed / expired. Now the parent(S) have gotten a lawyer and going after me because of the insurance.

That depends on other details in the police report, such as whether the child ran out in front of you suddenly.  Either way, the insurance company might decide to pay the claim if the child was seriously injured, and the policy is small.  If the policy is larger, or the child is less seriously injured, then it really depends on the detailed facts of the case.  We would need to read the police report, hear from witnesses, etc, to know for sure.  If you don't have insurance, and no collectible assets, the lawyer will probably drop the case pretty quickly.  Lawyers usually aren't interested if there is no insurance coverage because that is usually the only way they get paid.  Tina Willis Law - Orlando 360 N.
