QUESTION

Will a typo error in I-797 form delay the processing for EAD application?

Asked on Mar 12th, 2015 on Labor and Employment - New Jersey
More details to this question:
I received my USCIS receipt for the I-765 petition for work authorization a few days back and noticed a small typographic error in the zip code. While this did not create any problems in the delivery of the receipt, I didn't want to take a chance and called up the USCIS customer service and reported the typographic error. They took note and gave me a service request number and said that I'd be informed in 15 days. My question is will this small error because any delays in the delivery time for the EAD document.

This should not slow down the processing by USCIS but it may slow down the amount of time it takes to get the document to you by mail. In general, when something like this happens it is recommended that you immediately call the USCIS and report that there is an error in their data entry. It is referred to as a service error.
