Asked on Mar 01st, 2024 on Insurance - Florida
More details to this question:
My husband hit the corner of the rear bumper. We have had insurance and have but it lasted for 2 wks. so this accident isn’t covered. We going to for the repair but what are our right as far as getting estimates and on settle on where & how much we pay as I have their 2 estimates which are both very close in price. I look up the info on the bumper model, etc. there price for bumper primed & painted and they’re double the cost.

Very little other than the leverage of simply refusing to pay and saying "sue me." While there is no inherent obligation for you to settle any claim there is equally no obligation on the part of the other party not to sue for whatever damages were caused. THIS is why its critical to hire a lawyer to negotiate with the other party, even though it might cost more than the difference between the estimates.
