More details to this question:
My aunt had a life insurance policy, she died without changing the beneficiary to me, her husband had died before her. I am her heir in her will after her husband passed, but she had no estate to file. This policy is for $5,000. What do I have to do to claim this?

Based on the facts provided the life insurance proceeds are a probate asset and a probate estate needs to be opened with the Court before you can get those funds.
