QUESTION

how to be reimbursed if an uninsured motorist destroys property?

Asked on Apr 07th, 2013 on Insurance - Rhode Island
More details to this question:
I am the store manager at a gas station. We recently had someone hit and run one of the light poles outside. They took it clear out of the ground. We called the police filed a report. They did end of catching up with him after he abandoned the car and ran on foot. When I went and picked up the police report I found out the guy had no license and no insurance. What is my next step for getting my light pole reimbursed and replaced?

I am sorry to hear about this.  Unfortunately, if the person who caused the damage does not have any insurance, then it is likely that you may not be able to recover from him.  Your best bet is to check and see if your insurance will cover the damages.  Best of luck!
