how long do you need to keep Engineering Professional and General Liabilty insurance after you close your doors?

My wife and I own small engineering firm (just her and I) and we are planning on semi retiring yet continuing some consulting but no design and therby want to stop carring professional and general liability insurance.....will we need to close out our current company via State liscense and create another firm or what?

Unless you get a written opinion from a professional liability lawyer otherwise, you would be a fool to not carry professional liability coverage while working in a professional capacity.
