QUESTION

Can I sue for HIPAA violation?

Asked on Sep 13th, 2013 on Insurance - Arkansas
More details to this question:
My prescription insurance agency through work contacted my PCP in writing to ask him to verify that he was aware that the presciptions listed, being filled under my name/information, were correct. The medications listed were not mine, never filled by me and prescribed by physicians I had never seen in pharmacies I have never been to (a multitude of them all across the country). I am concerned my information has been sent to these other physicians and pharamcies listed that I have never used. Additionally, I'm concerned that my identity has been comprimised, connecting substances to my information for drugs I have never filled, used or been prescribed.
