QUESTION

can daughter use and be covered by insurance if boyfriend in army and he give her power of attorney?

More details to this question:
Daughters boy friend being deployed. She was given power of attorney to pay his bills in his absense. He want her to use her car in the interim. Does his car ins. cover her driving his car in event of accident?

To answer this question you would have to read the boyfriend's insurance policy and/or talk to his agent. If daughter is a "permissive user" she should be covered. The daughter should be covered under his auto policy.  Most policies cover those who have express permission to drive the vehicle.  However, it would be best to read his auto policy and/or call the insurance company to double check as insurance policies and state laws differ.  In addition, the boyfriend can always have her listed as a named insured.  That would be the best way to ensure she is covered and would be what I recommend.  Shouldn't take much effort to have her listed as a named insured on the policy.  That is the safest bet.  Best of luck.
