QUESTION

What do I need to do to modify child support in a negotiated agreement?

Asked on Apr 14th, 2015 on Family Law - Florida
More details to this question:
I have a negotiated agreement that says I will pay X amount a month in child support in the divorce decree.I pay both medical and dental insurance premiums. Also the party is not involved in any extra activities that would still justify paying this amount. I have since had another child with one more on the way. I need to know how successful it would be to get the amount of the agreed child support lowered.

It largely depends on the terms of the settlement agreement you entered into. However, generally, you must show a substantial change in circumstances which would warrant a change in the support amount. Such changes would include a significant decrease in your pay since the original amount was entered, an increase in the payee's income, changes in timesharing and the like.
