It isn't a matter of why, it is just that he is not. Consider following through with the Court and allow the Court to determine why and what will be done about it.

You're correct course of action would be to file a motion seeking enforcement of the child support order. If your ex has some excuse why he is not making the payments, I suspect you'll find that out then.

You can file a motion for contempt with the court. Explain what is happening (or not happening) in the motion, and your ex-husband will be required to come to court to explain his side of the story.

Take him to court and have him explain to the judge why he isn't paying. An attorney can help with the proper documents.

You could ask him or spend lots of money on contempt actions and discovery.

You can bring a motion for contempt alleging that he can pay but won't. He will then need to explain what he is doing and why. You should consult a family law attorney or facilitator to assist you.

The question is not why? What you need to do is make a motion to compel payment to the court and ask the court to have the payments made in the form of automatic withdrawals or automatic deductions from his paycheck by the employer. Also, your attorney can ask for attorney's fees since you shouldn't have had to go to court to collect what he was already ordered to pay.

If he has been ordered to pay spousal support, the reason he is not paying is probably because either he lost his income or he just does not want to pay. Either way, you could ask the court to enforce the spousal support order and require your husband to either pay or face a contempt proceeding.
