QUESTION

Can I get a court ordered DNA test after 36 years?

Asked on Feb 11th, 2013 on Family Law - New York
More details to this question:
I am 36 and just found out that my biological father ran away when he found out my mother was pregnant. I was raised by the second most likely suspect. I now have children of my own and would like to be able to give an accurate medical and psychological history to my doctor. There are some serious psych issues in the family of the man who I though was my father and I want to be sure I don't need to worry about that with my children. OR that I need to be proactive and aware.

Not likely that a Court order a DNA test now as it would serve absolutely no purpose as you are 36 years of age and there is no issues that could arise regarding child support.

Your question is a little unclear: are you trying to get the court to order your biological father to take a DNA test? If so, it seems unlikely but you might want to talk to a lawyer to present more of the information. Otherwise, you are free to get your own DNA tested.
