If I got a civil demand but paid it and the store said it would be a misdemeanor, will it go on my record?

How will it affect me? No cops were involved and they said I won't get a court date.

No police or citation = no criminal charges.

Don't confuse the civil case between you and the store with the criminal case in court between you and the state. Paying the civil demand will do nothing for you except make you look more guilty when the prosecutor reviews the case.
