QUESTION

Can I file a lawsuit against my friend for breach of contract?

Asked on Apr 18th, 2014 on Criminal Law - Wisconsin
More details to this question:
I did some work for a so called friend and instead of paying me cash they wanted to give me a broken hot tub, anyway reluctantly I accepted the tub. I had to spend my own money to fix it to sell it. When I finally got a buyer for it she said I could not have it. So now Iโ€™m out the money for the job and money I put into tub to make it workable.

Yes, you may sue. Will you win? I would not know without hearing from your former friend. There are always two sides to every story. The truth is usually somewhere in-between the two versions.

Yes, and if it is for an amount within the small claims level ($10,000 in Wisconsin), it is relatively simple to sue in small claims.
